What is a Shichon?
A Shichon is a Shih Tzu / Bichon cross. Also known as Zuchons, Bi Tzus, Teddy Bear and Daisy Dogs.
Temperament
These are very happy affectionate little dogs that will steal your heart. They have a very strong and sturdy mannerism about them; they are not shy, timid, or fragile. They are not yappy or nervous or what some call “high strung”. However they can be quite independent and require firm, consistent training. They adapt very well and are eager to be your companion and learn quickly. They love to “hang out” with the family and be cuddled.
Physical Characteristics
As these dogs are a cross breed they come in a variety of colours and coat types. Colours that we have are: white with black/brown/gold patches, also known as “parti” and our solid colours are black, white, gold, and brown. The coats also vary; curly, wavy and some will have a totally straight coat. They are non-shedding and non allergenic, although someone with very strong allergies may have a reaction to these dogs. If you think that could be you we suggest a visit first to see how you react before making a decision. Shichons have large brown expressive eyes with long eyelashes. They also have a beautiful plume-like tail that curls up over the back. By crossing the two breeds one of the goals is to bring out the flat nose of the Shih Tzu and shorten the length of the Bichon, having a medium length “shelf” above the nose. We also hope to lessen or eliminate the overshot under jaw of the Shih Tzu.
Our sizes range from 4 pounds to 13 pounds.
